THEATRE

The Minus Theatre Group practices a unique form of theatre which is open to all levels of experience, does not require any special skills and does not require mastery of English: it is a theatre language minus the mastery of literature, minus the masters, a theatre language based in the voice, physical language and gesture which belong to each individual who chooses to participate.

Why would you want to? Minus fosters a sense of belonging to this culture while being different from it: it says culture and theatre is for all. Those whose first language is not English are welcome as are those who have never performed or done theatre. This group practice is enriched by the unique ways of expressing yourself you bring to it. You are enriched by becoming involved.

The workshops are free of charge and open to all. There are nine workshops in this pilot series, in collaboration with Ellen Melville Centre. They start at 3pm each Monday, from August the fourth, and finish at 5.30pm. If you aim to attend please arrive at the Ellen Melville Centre on Freyberg Place, central Auckland, by 3pm.
